Thames-Coromandel District Council (TCDC) are asking the public to be patient during work to upgrade Sheriff Block and Whitianga Marina as it is likely to affect traffic build-up.
The work is scheduled to begin next week with trucking movements of rock from the Whitianga Marina by Heron Construction beginning on October 3 or earlier.
“Around 20 truckloads per day are expected to arrive at the Moewai Road Cleanfill Site via Moewai Road,” TCDC said.
“This will gradually increase to approximately 104 loads per 10-hour shift by late October 2022 for sand, gravel and the balance of the rock.”
TCDC said Heron Construction will use three trucks for the work and subject to the weather, should complete all movement of materials by mid-December.
“Hoppers will start moving fill to the Sheriff Block by mid November using approximately 90 trucks per day both ways,” TCDC said.
“Access to the Sheriff Block site will be via Moewai Road and Abrahamson Drive via North & South entrances.”
