Hato Hone St John are holding an Art Exhibition and Sale in Waihī in the new year.
The two-day art event to be held at Waihī Memorial Hall will be a fundraiser for the new modern, fit for purpose, Waihī Ambulance Station which looks set to begin its build in 2023.
The Art Exhibition and Sale will feature new and pre-loved art works and some crafts, and the Area Committee is currently seeking donations of works for the event.
Jo Moriarty, from the Waihī Area Committee, said many beautiful pieces had already been donated, from both local artists and residents.
“Now we’d like to add to that. We’d really appreciate any new or pre-loved art you can donate.
Jo said the new Waihī Ambulance Station will be built on the site of the current station in Johnston Street, and the concept plans will be on display during the event.
“The Art Exhibition and Sale is just the latest in many years of fundraising efforts,” she said.
“Alongside sausage sizzles, raffles, community events and grant applications there have been generous donations and bequests from the public.
Jo said canvas, watercolours, oils, pastels, posters, and framed prints would be on display at the event.
The community was encouraged to get behind the art event, with every piece donated to help fund the building of this essential community facility, she said.
