St Francis Catholic School year six, seven and eight students from its Piwakawaka room have studied the role of the Student Volunteer Army and how it responds to events in New Zealand during Term Four.
Principal Oliver Fahey said students collected food offerings and made Christmas decorations and Christmas angels as part of their study.
The collection will be donated to the Thames community foodbank to make Christmas a little easier for families.
