Hauraki District Council will be holding community meetings in Waihī, Paeroa and Whiritoa in coming weeks to enable residents to hear from councillors.
Council spokesperson Margaret Maclaurin said the free events, which would be chaired by Waihī Ward councillor Anne Marie Spicer, were a way for the councillors to build relationships with its community.
“The Ward councillors open [the meetings] to the public so the public can hear what has happened in the ward in the past few months, how [council is] tracking against any of the plans we have for that particular ward,” she said.
“They like to hear from the community any concerns that they have or anything that they want to see in their town that isn’t happening.
“So it’s very much a two-way conversation with the community but mostly it’s to hear from the councillors as to what has happened so far and where we are at with things.”
