Several road closures have been notified for the coming weeks, as Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency works on repairs in the Coromandel.
State Highway 25 will be closed at Kūaotunu for four consecutive nights, from May 8-11. The closure will span Waitaia Road to the north end of Wharekaho settlement at Simpsons Beach. The road will be closed from 8pm until 5am, with traffic allowed through for a short period between 11pm and midnight.
The closure is to allow geotech drilling to investigate permanent repair options from previous storm damage.
Meanwhile, another section of SH25, from 1090 Thames Coast Road to 713 Manaia Road at Kereta Hill will also face overnight closures, from May 14-16.
The road will be closed from 8pm-5am each night, also with a short break from 11pm to midnight to allow traffic through.
This closure is due to scheduled resealing work.
The Moana Anu Anu Wentworth River bridge just outside Whangamatā will face closures as well, for two non-consecutive days in May and June.
The bridge, which is located near the intersection of Tairua and Port roads, will be closed to all traffic from 7am-5pm on May 17 and June 9 for essential maintenance work.
Motorists travelling between Waihi and Tairua on SH25 will be detoured through Whangamatā. The bridge will also be closed to cyclists and pedestrians.
