State Highway 25 at the Opoutere reopened to all traffic – including trucks and trailers – at 2pm on June 22.
Repair works to fix the under-slip were completed ahead of schedule. However the site remains under stop/go traffic management and Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency warned road users to take care as the surface is not yet fully sealed.
Pavement works will be completed when the weather improves.
The road has been compromised since early March, when an under-slip closed the highway following heavy rain. Contractors cut into the cliff face to create a passable track for light vehicles past the slip before works got underway on permanent repairs.
