New Thames-Coromandel and Hauraki citizens sworn in

Citizenship ceremonies were held at Thames-Coromandel District Council on June 15, and Hauraki District Council on June 28. Thames-Coromandel Mayor Len Salt said he was “delighted” by their decision to become citizens and to call the Coromandel their home. “This merging of different cultures enriches our own New Zealand culture and provides a platform from which we can launch tomorrow’s heritage,” he said. “Some of you may have been living in New Zealand for a short time while others have made the Coromandel their home for many years. Whatever your personal story, we are delighted that you have made the decision.” Valley Profile reporters GORDON PREECE and ALICE PARMINTER captured some of the region’s new Kiwis.
