A free photo competition aimed specifically at youth is coming to Thames-Coromandel.
Entries for the Coromandel Peninsula youth photography competition open on October 1, and close on November 30.
Competition organiser Karen Moffatt-McLeod is encouraging anyone under the age of 18 to pick up a camera, phone, tablet or other photo-capable device and get snapping.
“I have long felt that most photography competitions run nationally lack a specific youth focus or category,” Karen said.
“There are a number of very talented youth involved in the arts on the Coromandel Peninsula and I would love to see their views.”
Entrants must live within the Thames Coromandel District Council area.
There are two age groups for the competition: 11 years and under, and 12-17 years.
Entrants can choose to enter the portrait category or the street/my community category, with a maximum of four photos submitted across the two categories. All entries must have been shot in 2023.
Entries will be judged by photographers Shelley Harvey, Lia Priemus and Karen Moffatt-McLeod. There are prizes up for grabs, and the top three photos from each category will be showcased in an exhibition.
