The books are sorted, the tables have been erected, and the Zonta Club of Thames Valley is anticipating its next Bookarama this Friday and Saturday, October 20-21
The annual fundraiser helps projects locally, nationally, and internationally, and will see hundreds of books for sale at the St James Church hall in Thames.
Previous years have seen the club raise thousands of dollars for valuable causes, such as grants for new midwives, as well as supporting Grandparents Raising Grandchildren in the area.
Every year, Zonta organises Bookarama – to make quality books and publications available to the community at low cost, and a Pink Walk – to raise money for NZ Breast Cancer Foundation.
The group has also helped pregnant women with petrol vouchers to go to Waikato Hospital for check-ups; Thames Foodbank and toiletry packs at Christmas for Thames Hospital and women’s refuge.
It also gives individual grants to women for course fees and related expenses for further education, short courses, participating in sports events (e.g., travel costs), participating in artistic or cultural events outside the Waikato region, educational field trip/camp, facilitating/enabling learning and /or skill development.
DETAILS: The Bookarama kicks off at 9am both days and browsers are sure to find a bargain. Find Zonta Club of Thames Valley on Facebook for more information.
