Pārāwai School students donned pink and house colours on May 17 for a fundraising skipathon. The 230 students spent the day on the court, jumping, leaping and bouncing with all sorts of fancy steps. Teachers took up a rope too, and even the local police force stopped by for a jump.
Over $5000 was raised towards a new bike and scooter track for the school.
Principal Jordan Palfrey said he was pleased to see everyone enjoying being active, and hoped the eventual bike track would continue to encourage active movement among the kids.
“It’s to keep students active at school all year round,” he said.
“They’re playing the whole time they’re actually getting fit as – [the kids] are loving it. They just lose themselves in it.”
Reporter ALICE PARMINTER skipped along to join in the fun.
