Hello, I’m Mel, the owner of Sassy Sadie Waihi.
Some of you might remember me from my days as a florist.
At 50 years young, I’ve been a lifelong local with a wonderful family of five: one boy, two girls, and a supportive husband who encourages all my wild dreams.
After selling the florist side of my business, I took a few months off to enjoy more family time.
However, while my children were at school, I found myself needing more to do.
That’s when Sassy Sadie was born.
I partnered with some of the loyal suppliers from my 16 years as a florist and opened a gift and casual clothing store in a beautiful historic spot.
Things have changed around here since Covid-19, and I believe in adapting with the times. One of my key brands, Stella and Gemma, has also evolved, and now 80 per cent of my stock is from them.
What I love about Stella and Gemma is that their designs cater to Kiwi women of all shapes and sizes, and they source and supply ethical products.
In addition to Stella and Gemma, I also stock Moana Road, Hello Friday, and Junkfood Jeans.
I manage my business around my family, so we are open during school hours from 9am to 3pm.
During holidays, my fantastic team of ladies supports me.
