Not sure? Ask Hauraki Citizens Advice

ADVERTORIAL
Citizens Advice has been around for a long time.
It was established in the United Kingdom during World War II as a place where people could go to trace missing relatives.
In peacetime, it has become an essential community service and a place people can go to get free, confidential information and advice.
This is a volunteer-run organization that relies solely on community funding.
The Hauraki Citizens Advice Bureau, or CAB, opened in Waihī in 1987 and transferred to Paeroa in 2019.
With a grant from the Hauraki District Council, we are fortunate to lease space from AE Electrical (in the old Post Office building) which allows CAB to continue to provide a much needed and valued contribution to the Hauraki community.
Some of the issues we can assist clients with include knowing your rights, consumer issues, housing and tenancy, employment, senior services, wills, powers of attorney and also help those who are unable to find information using computers or mobile phones. In the past five years, we have experienced a significant increase in demand for CAB services to help clients resolve difficult situations.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
Currently we are open three days a week. Our goal is to be open five days a week but to achieve this we need more volunteers. Volunteers can come from a variety of backgrounds and all genders are welcome.
You will need to pass a criminal record check, have good listening skills, be able to research the computer database and log enquiries.
Free training is given. We work in teams so there is always someone available to help with the curly questions. Without our wonderful volunteers we would be unable to continue to provide this valuable service to our community.
If you have three hours a week or fortnight to spare and would like to help your community, please pop in and have a chat.
We are very flexible when it comes to other personal commitments.
