The ARTWaikino art exhibition was held in Waikino’s Victoria Hall on Labour Weekend, and organisers said it was a great success.
More than $6000 was raised and 37 artworks sold at the three-day event, which saw artists from across the district and further afield compete for prizes in several categories, including painting, mixed media, sculpture, craft and photography. There were also special awards for young artists, best use of recycled material, and people’s choice.
The funds raised will go towards the upkeep of the hall.
“It’s the highest number of art pieces we’ve sold since pre-Covid – we only have sales records from 2018,” committee member Sarah Holmes said
“The level of skill involved in the entries this year was great, and many people commented how wonderful the event was.
“It was awesome to have so much support from local businesses, especially when business is hard at the moment. We’re proud to have put on this event for the benefit of artists and the community and hope to have a great 25th year next year.”
