ADVERTORIAL
If people are on the lookout for a “primo spot” to eat with a great country atmosphere, campground over the road and one of the best spots in the country for fishing: Royal Oak Hotel is the place to go.
Owners Lisa and Chris Chaffey, who have been at the helm for two and a half years, said the most rewarding thing so far was “meeting heaps of awesome people who make our jobs so much more fun”.
When dining, guests can expect to find a friendly, relaxed atmosphere, beautiful garden area, great food and cold drinks.
One must-eat meal is “definitely the catch of the day”.
“Nothing beats fresh fish and chips with a delicious garden salad,” but steak came in at a very close second, Lisa said.
But the Royal Oak Hotel has a signature special with a family twist.
Chris’ dad started Thames Pies in the early 2000s, and when he closed the shop, Chris took over the recipes and rebranded to Tapu Pies.
“We can barely keep up with demand some days. There are so many flavours available, we sell just as many cold/frozen pies as we do hot ones.”
But good food and drink isn’t all that’s on offer – they also sell Royal Oak Hotel hoodies, singlets, tees, caps and bucket hats, and a new line of shorts.
“If you can’t make it in to buy in person, message us via Facebook or Instagram to pay via internet banking [and] to arrange postage.”
Stay up to date and follow Royal Oak Hotel Tapu on Facebook or Instagram.
