The Valley Profile reporter Alice Parminter has been named a finalist in the 2025 Voyager Media Awards.
Alice, who joined The Profile team in 2023, was one of three finalists in the Local Journalist of the Year category, alongside Joel MacManus from The Spinoff and Matthew Littlewood from the Otago Daily Times.
The awards, run by the News Publishers’ Association, recognise excellence in New Zealand journalism. This year, the 38 award categories saw 114 finalists selected from over 900 entries. Entries had to be published in the 2024 calendar year.
Alice’s portfolio included her investigation into Thames’ red-stickered homes after Cyclone Gabrielle; personal stories of trauma from healing gang members; and a look into the price of petrol in Thames.
The winners will be announced on May 16.
