One of Danika Bergersen’s goals was to score the New Zealand number one spot for the current bicycle motocross (BMX) season.
It’s something the victorious young star can now tick off her list as she claimed the crown and took out the top spot at the BMXNZ National Championships for the 16 year old girls category on March 22 to 23 in Invercargill.
The BMX racer and year-11 Hauraki Plains College student told The Profile she was “super stoked” to take home the New Zealand number one as it rounded off her season nicely.
“It’s a great feeling to see all of that effort pay [off], both mentally and physically.”
The budding racer celebrated her win with a relaxed evening, good sleep and dinner at Five Stags in Cromwell the following night, she said. But the victory didn’t come without its obstacles.
The greatest challenge at the competition for Danika was being able to finish first without any errors in each race, she said.
However, It didn’t stop the young rider from clinching the win.
But Danika didn’t just stop at one goal.
In the current BMX season, the riding prodigy also snapped up the North Island number one, National Series number one, Oceania number one, and Track Attack number one placings.
The promising racer said she would concentrate to further develop her skills and push herself to perform better in upcoming races.
“I would also like to thank everyone who has supported me throughout the season on all levels.”
