A family-friendly improvisational show with high energy and comedy will entertain audiences at Waihī Memorial Hall on February 26.
Honest Liars, based in Tauranga, will perform to fundraise for Youth Theatreworks Waihī, which was established last year as a charitable trust to provide theatre and performance opportunities for tamariki in the Waihī area.
Trustee Victoria Menary told The Profile Honest Liars was currently holding Sunday workshops for the trust and offered to do a fundraising show.
“We are searching for a home for our trust, a place where we can run classes and workshops, where our young people can feel a sense of ownership and belonging,” she said.
“The funds raised will go towards that, and also running further classes and workshops.”
Victoria said Youth Theatreworks Waihī had six committee members and 19 students involved in its acting classes.
“We are from a range of backgrounds, all sharing a desire to improve well being and outcomes for Waihī youth by providing theatre and performance opportunities,” she said.
“Last year we put on a very successful show called James and the Giant Peach, involving nearly 40 children and young people in Waihī.
“We had two excellent, experienced directors who were able to guide and coach the tamariki to fantastic performances, we are so proud of the kids and what they achieved.”
