Several Kauaeranga Valley visitor sites operated by the Department of Conservation will be closed this month for maintenance and repairs.
Senior ranger Karen Ismay said tracks beyond the Kauaeranga Valley Visitor Centre including Pinnacles Hut and campsites were among the closed sites.
“We appreciate these closures will inconvenience visitors, but we must get this work done to continue to offer great experiences for people coming to the valley,” Karen Ismay says.
The Department of Conservation (DOC) said the closed campsites included Trestle View, Wainora, Catleys, Totara Flat, Booms Flat, Whangaiterenga, Hotoritori and Shag Stream.
The Kahikatea campsite within the valley remains available.
DOC advised Kauaeranga Valley visitors to check its website for track closures.
“All going to plan, and weather permitting, the work will be completed in late May with the closed assets available again in June,” DOC said.
