A fundraising event for the Mental Health Foundation will see local artists come together for a night of live music this Friday.
Held at The Stables Restaurant and Brewery on Cochrane St, Thames, performers include Mac, Laura Peacock, Chris Poipoi, and Andy Mac.
The Stables owner Mike French said raising money for the Mental Health Foundation was a no-brainer.
“Throughout my late teens, early 20s, and even now that I’m 30, I still do at times suffer with anxiety and depression, though by getting to know myself and what keeps me healthy, I have learned that these struggles do not have to define me or limit my life,” he said.
“When my long-time friend Laura Peacock, who I went to kindergarten, primary school and high school with, approached me about hosting an evening with amazing local artists, and having all the proceeds going directly to the charity, I didn’t hesitate.”
Established in 1977 from the proceeds of a telethon, the Mental Health Foundation is a charitable trust that provides free information and training, and advocates for policies and services that support people with experience of mental illness, and also their families and friends.
“I’m really excited for the evening,” Mr French said.
“We will be having live music provided to us by brilliant local musicians, and not to mention the restaurant will be operating as usual.”
