After 31 years of dedicated service, Carolyn Purcell is retiring from Hauraki Plains College. Since joining the school in 1993 as secretary/receptionist, Carolyn has held a variety of key roles, including executive officer, finance/payroll, board secretary, support staff manager, principal’s personal assistant, and a valued member of several board committees.
Throughout her career, Carolyn has role modelled our guiding principle, “excellence is our tradition”. Carolyn’s journey has been marked by her efficiency, professionalism, and dedication. Known for her ability to navigate the complexities of school operations with grace, her astuteness and valued support have been crucial to ensuring the school runs smoothly.
With a heart of gold and strong loyalty, Carolyn not only excelled in her roles but also kept a broader perspective on how the school was functioning, always working in its best interests.
Support staff are the backbone of any school, and Carolyn has been an incredible support to all staff, tirelessly working to make their jobs easier. She has been much more than a colleague to many – becoming an ally and friend. Everyone needs a Carolyn in their lives. Carolyn’s positive impact has touched hundreds, if not thousands, of staff, students, and community members during her time at Hauraki Plains College. As she embarks on a well-deserved retirement, we extend our heartfelt gratitude and best wishes to Carolyn and her husband Rick.
