There are currently three major road closures in the Coromandel after another night of bad weather due to Cyclone Hale.
State Highway 25 between Kopu and Hikuai remains closed on Wednesday morning, Waka Kotahi said.
The road was closed on Tuesday afternoon after a slip blocked both lanes. Contractors will return to the scene on Wednesday morning to continue clearing debris.
State Highway 25 at Pukepoto, between Hikuai and Tairua, is closed due to surface flooding.
On the Thames Coast, Waka Kotahi are warning motorists that State Highway 25 between Te Puru and Tapu is closed while contractors remove a slip that came down on to the road early on Wednesday morning.
Waka Kotahi are advising motorists to avoid the area and to consider delaying travel. A detour is described by NZTA as “not applicable”.
